A flexagon is made up of regular polygons (a figure with three or more straight sides) and are folded together in such a way that they "flex" and show more than the usual two faces of flat surfaces. There are many kinds and many names. For example, the tri-tetra-flexagon is called "tri" because it has three faces. It is called "tetra" because it has four sides, etc. the flexagon is based on principles which appear elsewhere in daily life, such as doors which are hinged to open either way, and in magicians props such as Jacob's ladder tumbling blocks and the Himber wallet.
